I have always enjoyed the jams in and around Playing' especially when they sandwich a few other tunes in between. For instance, the 1974 Cow Palace Playin-Uncle-Dew-Uncle-Playin , also done on 11-17-73. I can think of many great shows that use Playing in the Band as the anchor.
Buffalo 9-26-81
Lewiston 9-06-80
Winterland 10-20-74
Folsom Field 6-08-80 (Where is this show on the Archive??) Uncle-Playin-Uncle to open the show!!!!

so many others to list...

I don't know. I have the entire show and it's KSAN all right. On cassette. I was later given an even better cleaner sounding dub by a friend so who knows? One of them may have been a Rob Tebworth special. The other? I just don't know. It was always down to equipment and Dolby wasn't it?

I liked when they'd do playin' one night, jam out of it into something else and off they go, coming back to it the next night (or later)..only saw one of 'em live myself..9/19-20/90 at MSG.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Swing Auditorium!!!!!
2/26/77 Playin'>Wheel>Playin'.
There's a reason it's in the top five.

There are many fine Playin's from 1976 comeback tour as well.

Never forget the one they did at Laguna Seca in '88. The only self-contained one I ever saw. It's on the white box set they put out.

Too many to count. Boston December '73 (out of Mississippi)

Cincinatti 10/27/72 is my new favourite. Also dig the Fox from the same year. Playin'>Drums>Dark Star>Morning Dew>Playin'. Wowzie Wowzie Woo Woo!

But really I love many of them. Not as crazy about the ones from say '85 to '87. Too damn short.

Oh I know many people dis this show and I gotta say that's okay with me and I know Jerry was on his last legs etc. moand groan but for a late period Playin' I'm quite fond of the Omni '95.

Oh and then there's Oakland February Chinese New Year '91. Third night. Sorry about my lack of specific dates here. If you really want to find it it's easy. The longest of that year. It has a fake into Terrapin then back then drifts into Uncle John's after which we finally get the Terrapin. A titan of a show but I LOVE THIS WHOLE RUN!!

Wasn't too impressed by 6/8/90. But that's not why we're here.

Here's a few favorites that immediately come to mind:

10/16/74 has several highlights.

4/14/82 has a sick jam. Bobby's drunk, but this one's got some kind of heart. Long and spacey into drums.

88' blasts out of the gates on March 16 on the heels of a momentous Fire on the Mountain.

89 has a number of great versions, but I've yet to hear any that parellell
12/27. Three waves, degrees of meltdown and space madness. Sick as hell.

There's a great Playin>Supplication>Playin in '76, the only one of its kind and an unusually present jam.

79 has many extended explorations, and 12/28 is a great one.

93 has at least one that should be noted: 5/26 at Cal Expo. And speaking of 5/26, check out that day in '73. People say it's great, though I never really got hooked into that Playin' at all. 5/26/73 has a great 3rd set. Many have said the Playin' is great, but I didn't get it.

I recall really enjoying 6/25/85 Playin'.

Ah! One from '90 comes to mind: 3/19/90. A very fine Foolish Heart morphs into a perfect segue to Playin'
